HD SPIKERS STOP SOLAR SPIKERS FOR THIRD STRAIGHT WIN IN PVL

MANILA, Philippines — Cignal extended its winning streak to three, and did not allow the Capital1 Solar Spikers to continue its momentum after winning in four sets, 25-20, 25-17, 23-25, 25-13, in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024 Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena on Saturday, July 27.

Player of the game MJ Perez lifted the HD Spikers after scoring 23 points on 20 attacks, two aces, and one block.

Holding a 2-0 set advantage, Cignal held a comfortable four point cushion in the third frame, 21-17.

But the Solar Spikers came alive and pulled a 4-0 run to tie the match at 21-all.

With Capital1's will to extend the match, the Solar Spikers capitalized on HD Spikers errors as Marina Tushova scored from the backrow to take Set 3, 25-23.

But the story changed in the fourth frame as the Solar Spikers displayed a lackluster performance after being down by 10 points, 19-9.

The HD Spikers powered through and did not allow the Solar Spikers to come close as Jacqueline Acuña made back-to-back kills to send the game at match point, 24-13.

Tushova made a costly service error that gave Cignal its third victory.

Tushova made 28 points for the Solar Spikers, while Maria Clemente added 10 markers.
