AYO SAYS CONVERGE STILL UNSURE ON WHO TO PICK IN NEXT PBA DRAFT

LATE as it may be, Converge proved it has the materials to compete against top teams in the PBA after winning two of its last three games of Season 48.

The bigger fish was caught on Wednesday night when the FiberXers upset TNT Tropang Giga, 107-103, in its final Philippine Cup game to end what had been a terrible season for the franchise on a high note.

While coach Aldin Ayo said this new breed of FiberXers already have a core built around Justin Arana and Alec Stockton, everything still depends on the course top management would want the team to take by next season.

"It will depend on management, it will depend on Boss Jacob (Lao) and Gov Archen (Cayabyab). But we already have the core, magdagdag lang siguro kami kung ano ang kulang namin," said Ayo.

Aljun Melecio (17 points), Schonny Winston (13), and Patrick Maagdenberg (12) put up double figures in scoring off the bench to help the team stun TNT and hurt the quarterfinals bid of the Tropang Giga.

Ayo acknowledged the work done by his second group, but obviously Converge still needs some help.

"Hopefully mag-improve yung players nila and hopefully, suwertihin kami sa drafting," he said.

Ayo said he has no idea yet on who the team will pick in the coming draft where Converge is expected to earn the No. 1 overall pick after compiling a 3-19 win-loss record this season.

"Hindi pa namin alam sino ang mga sasali, pero hopefully makakuha kami ng makakatulong sa amin," added the Converge coach.
