VAN SICKLE BANNERS ALAS PILIPINAS IN VTV WOMEN’S INTERNATIONAL CUP

MANILA, Philippines — The Alas Pilipinas women’s national volleyball team released its fortified lineup with Filipino-Americans Brooke Van Sickle, MJ Phillips, and Tia Andaya bannering the squad in the VTV Women’s International Cup that is set to commence on June 28 to July 5 in Vinh Phuc, Vietnam.



The national team head coach Jorge Souza de Brito released the 17-woman roster, and Premier Volleyball League’s (PVL) two-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) Brooke Van Sickle is set to make her debut.  


Previously, Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) president Ramon “Tats” Suzara urged Van Sickle and All-Filipino Finals MVP Phillips to complete the requirements for changing their federation last May.



The two Petro Gazz stars are now both in the clear as they will now don the Philippine jersey for the upcoming league.

Choco Mucho star middle-blocker Maddie Madayag is set to make her return with the national team for the first time since the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.



With the addition of Madayag, Fifi Sharma and Thea Gagate will still keep their roles as a middle-blockers.



Alas Pilipinas will continue to rely on the playmaking and leadership of Jia De Guzman, and floor defense specialist Dawn Macandili-Catindig.

Suzara also tapped De La Salle University stalwarts Mars Alba, Leila Cruz, Alleiah Malaluan, Amie Provid,o and Justine Jazareno.  


Eya Laure, Vanie Gandler, Dell Palomata, and Lams Lamina, who all played a pivotal role in the country’s silver finish in the 2025 Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Cup will move forward and set to make history once more in the said tilt.



However, UAAP three-time MVP Bella Belen, UAAP Season 86 Rookie-MVP Angel Canino, UAAP Season 87 Rookie of the Year Shaina Nitura, former La Salle setter Julia Coronel, and libero Jen Nierva are not included in the lineup.
