NONOY SHINES AS TERRAFIRMA ENDS CAMPAIGN WITH FLOURISH, RIPS TNT

MANILA, Philippines — Rookie Mark Nonoy sparked Terrafirma's spirited offense with a career-best 33 points as the Dyip closed their PBA Season 49 Commissioner's Cup campaign with a 117-108 upset of tournament leader TNT on Wednesday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

The freshman guard out of De La Salle finished the game with 5-of-6 shooting from three-point zone, while adding four rebounds and the same number of assists.

The Dyip tore the game wide open by outscoring the Tropang Giga, 74-42 in the middle quarters, allowing them to lead by as many as 31 points.

Terrafirma came into the game with nothing to lose, having lost its first 22 games this conference.

But the team played with pride, intending to close the conference with no less than a victory.

And the Dyip achieved that, thus duplicating what the franchise managed to do when the team scored an 84-72 win last September to end the Governors' Cup with a solitary win.

On the other hand, the loss ended TNT's six-game winning run, while dropping from no. 1 spot to no. 6 in the standings with its 6-3 record.

Brandon Edwards finished with 19 points, 12 rebounds and six assists for the Dyip, while Mark Louie Sangalang had 16.

Rondae Holli-Jefferson led TNT with 41 points, while Calvin Oftana chipped in 17.
